During a DISTRIBUTECH 2023 Utility University course on AMI 2.0, instructor David Kreiss said he doesn’t believe customers will voluntarily reduce energy demand or charge their vehicles at designated times simply because the grid is strained. Further, he doesn’t see a future in which electric utilities control their customers’ EV chargers or appliances.
