Sign me up for CBD

November is the month that merchandisers are asked to update the Pain Relief section. This year in the section, make your goal to place signs that promote your CBD line. Run a sales report and remove the six slowest moving pain relief items in the category and replace them with signs promoting your CBD. This is a great way to increase CBD awareness without having to cross-merchandising product. There is no worry about theft; people don't usually steal signs. The best sign would include a photo of the CBD product and this message, "Ask our pharmacist about CBD." Do not put the price of the CBD on the sign! Sell it, don't eat it

Take the time today to prepare for the day after Halloween, which is a Monday. (You know how nuts a Monday can be!) Decide now what you want to do with non-Halloween candy items. If this is the second year in a row that you put the same non-candy items in storage, you will want to clear it out at 50% off on Monday. If you have a large amount of Halloween-themed candy to sell on Monday, place the candy at "Buy 1 and get the 2nd one Free!" If a few customers claim they only want one, let them have one at 50% off. On Monday, merchandise the product you are mostly concerned about to the eye-level shelves.


A tisket, a tasket

A well-placed handbasket can increase sales by 10% or more. Keeping the baskets clean and hand sanitizer for customers to use is paramount. Place the first stack of baskets near the first endcap that a customer sees while entering the store. Fill a highly visible endcap towards the center of the store with baskets (no need for shelves). Now is a good time to order more baskets; they will come in handy for the gift-giving holidays.

Are you creating health?

Weight Control and Healthy Aging are the buzzwords we hear more often; the two go hand in hand. The trend for pharmacies marketing themselves as a Wellness Center is moving away from merchandising candy and focusing more on healthy alternatives. In November, stores are asked to update the historically slow-moving department of weight control. Many merchandisers ignore the weight control department (I was guilty of this). We all have to be proactive and change with the times. Consider adding a shelf of healthy snacks and or supplements that support healthy eating. For supplements, start with Vitamin D/K, Omega 3, CoQ10, and Magnesium Glycinate. For snacks, look into an all-natural meal replacement bar.
