Good evening,

Good evening,

One of Virgin Australia's curious subplots belongs to Regional Express.

How, when Virgin is in administration and Qantas needed to go to shareholders for a bailout, is Rex plotting an expansion plan?

Well, it is. And tonight we have some details on how it's going about it.

Rex is understood to be close to securing a bunch of jets currently leased by Virgin and soon to be surplus to the slimmed-down airline's requirements.

They're Boeing 737s — commonly used on major Australian domestic routes and for short-haul international flights — and are expected in Rex's portfolio shortly.

Elsewhere, JPMorgan is helping an Australian fintech pitch for fresh funds, while Coronado Global Resources has secured support from its two big banks ahead of an equity raising.

Happy reading,
