ACT haircuts may rise. This is what made front page news on The Canberra Times, 51 years ago. The president of the Master Hairdressers Association, Mr Bruce Swan, denied that there was any move among association members to have prices raised, but said that a meeting to discuss rising costs would be called. Canberra hairdressers were understood to want the average price of haircuts raised from 90 cents to one dollar. Today, prices for haircuts start around $39, for a basic trim up to and in excess of $200 depending on length and style.  READ MORE
