Richland County reorganizing greenway program

The greenway initiative, part of the county’s Transportation Penny Program, is being reorganized to scale back costs and realign projects that lack public support, the county said. The changes will eliminate 8 projects. 

Prison inmates to receive associate degrees

Since a Columbia International University prison initiative began in 2007, 157 inmates at correctional facilities statewide have received degrees. About a dozen inmates will receive degrees Friday.

Renovation of CIU dining hall completed over summer break

The dining hall and kitchen renovations included adding seating and serving space, opening the floor plan and adding individual dining and meeting rooms. 

S.C. Federal to acquire Florence-based credit union

S.C. Federal Credit Union will acquire Florence-based Health Facilities Federal Credit Union effective March 2. All aspects of Health Facilities will come under S.C. Federal’s umbrella. 

Anderson University to open Center for Cybersecurity

Anderson University is launching the Center for Cybersecurity in fall of 2020. The university will offer a traditional degree in cybersecurity along with interdisciplinary majors.
