Rick’s Renderings – Installment #7

This green complex was one with more changes than most others.  By adding 1,040 square feet to the green, we made it the 2nd largest green on the Vale at 7,177 square feet. With the length of this hole at 233 from the back tee, the increased size should be a welcome change.

Much of the expanded area is on some flat places in the front part of the green that bring the putting surface close to the steeper edges.  Some interesting pin spots will be created near these edges.   We were able to use the small mounds around the outside edges to bring some movement into the green and separate the pin areas.

To make the hole have more options for play around the green, we made the hollow on the left and an area on the right into lower mowed Bluegrass ,so putting, chipping and pitching will be possibilities for play.  We also preserved the long back to front slope over much of the green as a hallmark of this green.  Shots hit beyond the pin will have to be played carefully or risk going well past the hole.
