The South African broadcasting industry went radio silent on Monday morning as news of legendary presenter Jeremy Mansfield's death was announced.
Mansfield was battling stage 4 liver cancer after revealing in August that it was terminal. He was 59.
Of all the media ventures Mansfield is known for, his presence on the radio was most prominent.
Radio wasn't the only career the gigantic figure in broadcasting pursued.
Apart from a few TV show stints in the 90s, the first two seasons of Laugh Out Loud – the South African hidden camera comedy television series that first aired on M-Net (DStv 101) in 2005 – showcased the broadcaster's comic genius.
An aspirant master chef, Mansfield also co-authored two cookbooks with his former wife, Jacqui.
After retiring from radio in 2021, Mansfield was the head presenter of Mansfield2day on his YouTube channel at the time of his death.
