A French court was analyzing bids from suitors offering to acquire ailing French airline, Air Liberte and were scheduled to make a decision on the carrier’s fate early next week.
In the week before, British Airways, Virgin Express, Nouvelles Frontieres and a group of French investors submitted offerings to the Creteil Court. Orly airport, where Air Liberte is based, is under Creteil’s jurisdiction. British Airways is proposing to acquire Air Libertes assets for only $5 million, hire 1,250 employees and form a new French company, Société Nouvelle Air Liberte (New Air Liberte Co.), backed by a strong recovery plan it had drawn up. |
