Record warmth lingers into weekend.  We’re expecting highs in the upper 70s in the Twin Cities metro area, which will shatter our current Twin Cities Nov. 6 record high of 73.

Saturday highs will range from the lower 50s in far northwestern Minnesota to the 70s in central and southern Minnesota. Sunday highs will be in the 60s in northern Minnesota, with 70s in central and southern Minnesota; windy, chance of showers Sunday night.

Minnesota's U.S. Attorney's Office announced new charges against two men who are part of an anti-government group called the "Boogaloo Bois."

Michael Solomon of New Brighton, Minn., and Benjamin Teeter of Hampstead, N.C., are charged with illegally possessing machine guns and attempting to provide material support to a terrorist group. 

Minnesota surpasses 5,000 daily COVID cases for the first time in the pandemic. The Health Department on Friday reported 5,454 newly confirmed or probable cases of the disease — a new one-day high. It was the fourth consecutive day of record new cases; 36 more people died, another grim daily record.

Health officials say new cases are consistently growing more quickly than new testing for the first time since May. Hospital and ICU use are near record highs.
