Waymo says data shows its robocars are safer than human drivers | With many still uncertain about the viability of driverless cars, Waymo believes its data shows that its autonomous technology can improve road safety | Driverless vehicles operated by Waymo were 6.7 times less likely than human drivers to be involved in a crash resulting in injury, and 2.3 times less likely to be in a police-reported crash, according to data published in a peer-reviewed study by the Alphabet-owned company. Waymo’s research covers 7.1 million miles driven by its fully driverless robotaxis in three cities — Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Apple ramping up production of Vision Pro for sooner-than-expected launch | The company is also preparing to train Apple Store staff on how to present and demonstrate its most important new product in years | Apple is aiming to launch its Vision Pro headset “by February,” according to reliable Apple tipster Mark Gurman. The tech giant unveiled the $3,499 mixed-reality headset to great fanfare in June, saying at the time that it would launch first in the U.S. in "early 2024."
