On the second anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, Utah leaders are reflecting on the last two years.
Here's what they said:
Gov. Spencer Cox: “There’s a humility that comes from this. Everyone, on every side, has been wrong at some point during this crisis."
Dr. Angela Dunn: "We’re used to trying to exude confidence and clarity. I think that was to our detriment when we had to shift policies with new science. We could have hedged our bets a little bit more when introducing guidelines.”
Dr. Brandon Webb: "The first day that I said, ‘We’re in trouble,’ was the day that the first case was identified in Italy. Because that was the day we knew we’d lost containment."

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney joined a group of Republican senators in urging President Joe Biden to reverse course and get the Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.
Context:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked for the U.S. to provide his military with more aircraft, as well as for a "no-fly zone" over Ukraine. The U.S. has rejected both ideas because of the risk of escalation.
“I believe there’s a sentiment that we’re fearful about what (Russian President Vladimir) Putin might do. And what he might consider as an escalation. It’s time for him to be fearful of what we might do,” Romney said.
