#1   Rooster Teeth Rebrands SVOD Service
    Rooster Teeth announced a major update to its subscription VOD service. The service has been re-branded as First and now comes with a premium subscription tier for super fans, dubbed the double-gold tier. The companys 135,000 subscribers get early and exclusive access to Rooster Teeths programming.
Why This Matters: Starting July 1, Rooster Teeth subscribers, formerly known as sponsors, as well as new subscribers, will become members of a newly-branded First offering that sells for $4.99 per month or $19.99 for six months.

#2   Sonys Vue Web TV Service Passes 100,000 Subscribers
    According to a report from Bloomberg, Sony has signed up more than 100,000 subscribers for its PlayStation Vue web-TV service since its March 2015 debut.
Why This Matters: Vue has reportedly been adding customers at a faster rate since Sony began a nationwide rollout in the U.S. three months ago. Media companies like are looking to internet OTT services to counter or slow the decline in traditional pay-TV subscribers for channels.

#3   Fox Reaches In-Market Streaming Deal with The NHL
    According to a report from Sports Business Daily, Fox Sports has reached an agreement with the NHL for in-market streaming, which will enable Foxs regional sports networks to stream NHL games to authenticated users in their local markets by the start of next season.
Why This Matters: Sports Business Daily reported that the streaming deal is wrapped into other deals involving rights outside of a teams home market, and that Fox will pay an annual rate in the low eight figures combined for the streaming and outer-market deals.

Unless the path is altered soon, the FCC is on course to force adoption of a set-top-box (STB) technology mandate that will harm U.S. video distributors, content producers, local advertisers, and ultimately consumers without any assurances of saving one thin dime. Even if this plan is adopted by the Commission, it will be multiple years, if ever, before anything actually materializes. During this time, video delivery innovation will be slowed, if not halted altogether, as the industry muddles through the Commissions latest edict. In other words, it will stunt the deployment of video programming Internet applications, or apps, as providers are obligated to deal with Commission mandates contained in its convoluted scheme. More
