Medical mission brings a healing touch to Rwanda

A team of specialists from India spent eight days in Kigali, Rwanda, performing hundreds of surgeries and teaching cutting-edge surgical techniques to local physicians and medical students. The medical mission was the fourth between Rotary districts in India and Rwanda, and one of dozens to Africa over the past two decades, extending healing care to patients who otherwise would have to wait months to see a surgeon.

ERADICATING POLIO

Nigerian health minister shares plans to quell polio outbreak

Nigerian Health Minister Isaac Adewole visited Rotary International World Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, USA, Friday to discuss Nigeria’s efforts to stem the outbreak of polio. Three cases in the northern state of Borno in August put the country back on the endemic list. Adewole said his country is treating the situation as “a national emergency” and is determined to rid the country of polio again.
