RSVP to Attend UNPCKD: Essentials for an Inclusive Internet
A three part virtual event series, tackling politics and issues impacting BIPOC communities online.
NAACP and The Webby Awards have teamed up to present UNPCKD, a three-part virtual series bringing social justice experts together to unpack the issues that communities of color are facing in the digital world.
The first event, Essentials for Turning Engagement into Action, is next Thursday, October 20th at 1 PM EDT. This session will illustrate what it takes to transform online activism into civic engagement offline. NAACP’s Vanessa Mbonu, Vice President of Digital Marketing & Communications will meet with Jordana Jarrett, Manager of Editorial Strategy at The Webby Awards to talk about how tech can be leveraged to encourage voter turnout and make voting more accessible.
The second event, Essentials for Designing an Online Revolution on Thursday, October 27th at 1 PM EDT, is a discussion will explore important design elements that can make or break a campaign, featuring panelists Chardee Scott, Multimedia Manager for NAACP and more.
The last event is titled Essentials for Responding to Crisis Online will take place on Thursday, November 3rd at 1 PM EDT. Featuring Jenni Olson, GLAAD’s Senior Director of Social Media Safety and more, the event will discuss key things to keep in mind when trying to respond to crises online, like the mental wellness of social media teams and the right way to curate content to mitigate a crisis.
