Fully-funded PD in Phonics and Early Reading for RI and below schools - normal cost £14,700

Schools in your area, MAT or cluster may be eligible for 2 years of training and continuing support, worth £14,700, fully funded by the Teaching and Leadership Innovation Fund. Schools must be rated Ofsted 'Requires Improvement' or 'Inadequate' to qualify and located in Opportunity or Priority Areas.

The two-year CPD programme includes two days of whole-school Read Write Inc. Phonics training, two days of literacy leadership training for the Headteacher and Reading Leader, 16 in-school Development Days and 19 days of supply cover.

Schools Competition: Host our Book Bench!

We are looking for a Read Write Inc. school in the North East of England to host our bright and beautiful Dr. Seuss book bench for a year. All you have to do is show us how you put reading for pleasure at the heart of your school.

To enter, send us a video of your children participating in storytime with a favourite book or poem. The sillier the voices and actions, the better! Send your entries to islatyrrell@ruthmiskin.com, and please make sure you have the relevant permissions from parents or carers of children featured.

We asked 4,160 children using MyBookBlog 'How much do you enjoy reading?' After 6 months using the website, 72% said they 'loved' or 'really liked' reading, compared to only 45% when they started.

Participate in a vital survey from the National Literacy Trust to inform research on fake news

The National Literacy Trust recently published a new report that investigates how children interact with online information. They have launched surveys to assess awareness of 'fake news'. There are separate surveys for primary and secondary school children.

The surveys are open until 22 October 2017.
