Last summer we held 12 Phonics Roadshows in the North of England, funded by the Department for Education. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and focused on how valuable it was to observe excellent phonics teaching.

This March, we're running 12 more Roadshows that will showcase best practice in the teaching of phonics and early reading in the North of England. If you think your school or other schools in your cluster, alliance or MAT would benefit from attending one of these free morning sessions, please pass on the booking information below.
 
Roadshows are in Liverpool, Wirral, Knowsley, Manchester, Salford, Sheffield, Barnsley, Kirklees, Bradford, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and Middlesbrough.
 

Read Write Inc. Model Schools are opening their doors on 19 March to teachers looking to find out more about teaching literacy using Read Write Inc. Phonics. For an overview of the day and to book places, click here.
 
At the event, you will:

• Hear from the Headteacher about their school's reading success
• Visit and observe excellent literacy lessons
• Attend a talk by a Ruth Miskin Consultant Trainer
• Have a chance to ask questions and network.

Schools in your area, MAT or cluster may be eligible for two years of training and CPD, worth £14,700, fully funded by the Teaching and Leadership Innovation Fund. Schools must be rated Ofsted 'Requires Improvement' or 'Inadequate' to qualify and located in Opportunity or Priority Areas. This offer is available to schools who have not received Read Write Inc. in-school training or Development Days in the last two years.
 
We are now recruiting for Wave 2 of the project, with training dates available from September. Please pass this information on to the senior leadership team at schools you think may be eligible and would benefit from this funding.

Read Write Inc. Phonics trained schools are invited to attend a free 'Screening Check Prep' session in their area. These sessions are open to Reading Leaders and Year 1 teachers. Reception teachers may attend to understand expectations for progress.

• Organise one-to-one tutoring to accelerate accuracy in word reading.
