I hope you’re all excited about the new term - another year to get even more children reading by the end of Year 1. Schools have so much success with our simple ‘APC' plan - Assessing every half term to check children are reading at their 'Goldilocks spot', practising with and coaching reading teachers every week. Do come on our Reading Leader Training to ensure you reach every child.
 
This is a very exciting year for us – Read Write Inc. will be reaching more children than ever with Teaching and Leadership Innovation Funding, MyBookBlog is spreading across the country inspiring children to love reading, and we have some exciting new online content in the pipeline.

Ruth Miskin Training recently won a competitive Teaching and Leadership Innovation Fund (TLIF) bid to fund two years of professional development in 72 schools. Your school or schools in your academy network, local authority, cluster, alliance might be eligible.
 
We are offering a fully funded two-year cycle of leadership and literacy CPD in phonics and early reading. The two-year CPD programme includes two days of whole-school Phonics training, two days of literacy leadership training for the Headteacher and Reading Leader, 16 in-school Development Days and 19 days of supply cover for the Reading Later.

All funded by TLIF - normal cost £14,700.

Eligible schools must be Ofsted ‘Requires Improvement’ or below and in Opportunity and Priority Areas and schools will be required to purchase Read Write Inc. Phonics resources.
 

We have updated the Coaching Teachers Tracker. It is available as a free resource on the Ruth Miskin Training School Portal. You can find it under the 'Assessment and Tracking' category within Resources > Phonics.

We've added 6 new videos to the Parents page on our website, for parents to use when supporting their children at home alongside the Read Write Inc. Phonics Home Learning resources. The videos are also perfect to use when running parent sessions at school.

The videos advise parents how to read stretchy sounds, how to read bouncy sounds, how to read digraphs, and how to support their child with handwriting, sound-blending and spelling.

We'll be sharing these videos on our Facebook page over the coming weeks, so make sure you've liked our page. You can also find a full 'Information for Parents' video playlist on our YouTube channel.
