Ryanair 2Q profit falls on fuel, pilot costs; warns of strike impact

Ryanair’s first-quarter profit fell 20% to €319 million ($374 million), excluding exceptional items, hit by higher fuel and staff costs.

FAA declares exclusive authority over drone operations

FAA in a policy statement said it has exclusive authority over aircraft operations—including unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)—within navigable airspace, although it allows that state and local governments can regulate landing sites. The statement settles a debate that arose last year within its Drone Advisory Committee (DAC).

United Airline’s growing reliance on used aircraft is more than a way to add inexpensive lift—it’s also providing both fleet and aftermarket-support flexibility should a downturn hit that requires cutting capacity, the Chicago-based carrier’s executives said.

Vietnam seeks to raise airline foreign ownership limits to 49%

The Vietnam government has proposed raising foreign ownership limits in a domestic airline from 30% to 49%, while still ensuring that a Vietnamese individual or legal entity remains the major shareholder.


Myanmar’s FMI Air suspends service pending restructure

Myanmar-based FMI Air has suspended flights until the company completes a restructuring program.

Embraer deliveries double, 22 aircraft ordered in 2Q 2018

Brazilian manufacturer Embraer delivered 28 commercial aircraft in the second quarter of 2018, down 20% from a year ago, but doubling the number of deliveries made in 1Q 2018.
