S.C. bucks trend of falling construction unemployment

While construction unemployment decreased in 67% of 358 metro areas from August 2019 to August 2020, Columbia gained 200 jobs to lead a statewide increase of 500, according to a recent data analysis. 

Unemployment claims edge up, approach 750,000

For the week ending Sept. 26, 5,132 initial unemployment claims were filed in S.C., bringing the total since March 15 to 749,708. Richland County saw 481 new claims filed, second-highest in the state.
