SCPA has $33 billion annual economic impact in the Upstate

S.C. Ports Authority’s reach goes well beyond the Port of Charleston with more than half of its economic impact happening in the Upstate. The research shows SCPA has a $33 billion annual economic impact in the Upstate and creates 117,000 jobs in the region.

Oliver Haase has been named the new senior vice president for purchasing, quality and the Americas supplier network for BMW Manufacturing. He replaces Murat Aksel, who has left the company, according to a news release.

STEAM bus to bring science to S.C. students

Elementary school students in Hartsville and Darlington will soon see a new bus in town. The S.C. Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics is launching the GSSM Elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics Bus, a mobile science lab that will serve students in third through fifth grades.
