Virtual Women Filmmakers Festival at SAAM: Prelude to Musical Thinking
Wednesday, March 1, 5:30 p.m. ET
Wednesday, March 8, 5:30 p.m. ET

Join the Smithsonian American Art Museum for the fifth annual Women Filmmakers Festival featuring Vivienne Dick and Alison O'Daniel. In two evenings of virtual conversations, Saisha Grayson, time-based media curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, joins the internationally acclaimed artists to discuss their work and the role that music and sound play in our lives. At the end of each discussion, participants will have the opportunity to ask the artists questions in a live chat. Prior to the programs, registrants will receive special access to view a featured work from each artist.

The festival is presented exclusively online in March in honor of Women’s History Month and serves as prelude to Musical Thinking: New Video Art and Sonic Strategies, an upcoming exhibition that highlights how film and video artists incorporate musical strategies, themes, and references into their work.
