Welcome back to Saints Insider, the daily newsletter powered by NOLA.com focused on all things Saints. The Saints were back in action Thursday at practice, but first, more pressing news. By the time you read this (if you're not an early riser), the Saints might have made a decision already regarding Saturday's game against the Cardinals. If you haven't paid attention to the local news in the past 24 hours, here's the gist: Tropical Storm Ida is headed this way, and the storm could very well reach Category 2 or 3 status by Sunday when it's expected to make landfall. As it stands, the Saints and the Cardinals are set to kick off at 7 p.m. CT Saturday, which would be roughly 24 hours before landfall and around the time when its effects will likely be felt in south Louisiana. (I know it's not Saints news, but I'm going to be adding a general storm story from the Thursday 10 p.m. update in today's newsletter too. Everyone needs to stay informed.) The Saints, in a statement, said they'll be making a decision regarding the game on Friday morning. So stay tuned for updates there. In on-the-field news... Saints WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey didn't have the best week last week, but he had a big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Luke Johnson ponders the question, "Can he keep it up?" Plus, Rod Walker pinch hit for Luke Johnson on the Taysom Hill vs. Jameis Winston practice battle update. Spoiler: Hill had a slightly better day on Thursday. I, as always, handled the general observations. One noteworthy thing that was different on Thursday, Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Martz was at practice. Why? Well, Sean Payton wants to work on some things that he thinks Martz could help with. To our paying subscribers: Stick with our team, and thank you for supporting our sportswriters’ work.
