An in-depth look at the loss in Philadelphia
Through the first seven games of the season, the Saints mostly found a way to overcome all the obstacles. With their third consecutive defeat on Sunday, the Saints showed that they simply have too many missing parts to compete on a high level. The Eagles thumped the Saints 40-29 on Sunday, and the final score didn’t accurately reflect how soundly beaten Sean Payton’s squad was. After playing solid ball through the last three games, Trevor Siemian began to show some flaws in Philadelphia. He threw a pair of interceptions, including one pick-six, while accounting for 214 yards through the air. One has to wonder if Taysom Hill will get the start on Thursday against the Buffalo Bills if he’s healthy enough to do so. With so many key players missing on offense, the two-way threat of Hill may offer the Saints their best opportunity to get the ball rolling again. The Saints (5-5) need another three-game winning streak to put them back in the mix in the NFC South. If the Saints are going to turn things around, they’ll need to do it quickly before the Bills come to the Caesars Superdome for a 7:20 p.m. kickoff on Thanksgiving.
