Wow, that was a stunner, wasn't it? Well, maybe not for Saints fans or Drew Brees, who picked the Saints to beat the Buccaneers, despite the rest of the panel picking the Bucs. For the second time this season, an undermanned Saints squad, without their head coach or two starting tackles, defeated the Bucs in a 9-0 shutout. It was the first time since 2006 that a Tom Brady led team was shutout for an entire football game. It was a defensive masterpiece called by Dennis Allen, who served as head coach in Payton's absence. Although the Bucs would lose three of their key weapons during the game, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette, the Saints forced Tom Brady into two turnovers and a handful of sacks. In the midst of the game, Cam Jordan eclipsed the 100 sack club early in the first half, after missing last week's game due to COVID protocols.
