| Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for Wednesday, Aug. 10. Tuesday was Day 12 of training camp and you can tell the players are growing weary of hitting each other. They're ready for a game. And they'll get one on Saturday, albeit in the form of an exhibition against the Houston Texans. We learned from head coach Dennis Allen that quarterback Jameis Winston will not be playing in the game after spraining his right foot in practice on Monday. Our new beat reporter, Tarrin Waack, has the update on Winston and other notes, including the return to practice of a key defender. In Winston's absence, the backup quarterbacks stole the show at practice. Both are expected to take all of the snaps on offense against the Texans on Saturday. Beat reporter Luke Johnson has all the highs and lows from Tuesday's workout in his Day 12 observations. Speaking of quarterbacks, one former Saints signal caller, Taysom Hill, is making the transition to tight end. He met the media for the first time since injuring his foot last season and explained why he's "at peace" with the move. Luke Johnson has the story. Vegas has odds out on which players are most likely to win the Comeback Player of the Year Award, and two Saints are among the best bets. Zach Ewing has the story.
