Merri Ann found this recipe many years ago.  With a bunch of little kids underfoot, she didn't have time to make a stack of pies.  So she made big batches of pumpkin pie squares. We've morphed the recipe into big and little versions. 

Even if you opt for pies, consider that topping.  It's a spiced caramel whipped cream and very easy to make.  It works on apple and pecan pies as well.
