Cookbook author Samah Dada is getting to the root of turmeric. The spice is the latest health trend turning everything from lattes to skincare bright yellow. First, Samah learns how the root is cultivated, then she meets with recipe developer and scientist Kanchan Koya to debunk turmeric health claims. Finally, she cooks khichdi, a traditional Indian stew, with rice, lentils, and, of course, turmeric.
