Good afternoon! It's Friday, April 28, and today's headlines include details on "SatanCon" in Boston, a Virginia school board calling for the dismissal of Abigail Zwerner's $40 million lawsuit, and Mel Gibson demanding the release of an American on death row in China.
Hundreds of satanists are preparing to attend SatanCon 2023 in Boston, Mass., this weekend, a sold-out event hosted by a group known for making fun of Christians and theologically conservative beliefs. Many of those gathered are likely to display their support for abortion as the Satanic Temple promotes what it calls abortion rituals; the group has filed legal challenges against state restrictions on legal access to abortion, arguing that abortion is a religious right.
In an interview with The Christian Post, Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone cautioned that there is a "connection between Satanism and abortion," adding that "historically, child sacrifice is very much connected with Satanism and worship of demons," including examples found "even in Scripture."
