| Smuin Ballet premieres Helen Pickettâs Oasis, with an original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (Netflixâs House of Cards). Pickettâs work has been called âSpellbindingâ (SF Chronicle), âA visually silken and color-drenched danceâ (Contra Costa Times).
The program also includes: JiÅà Kyliánâs masterpiece Return to a Strange Land, called âMoving. Impressiveâ (SF Chronicle), and âA must-see!â (SF Classical Voice); and Val Caniparoliâs delightful Tutto Eccetto il Lavandino (everything but the kitchen sink).
This dynamic choreography moves from classical to contemporary to theatricality in inventive movements that illuminate the Vivaldi score in new and surprising ways. "Droll. Delightful!" (SF Chronicle) | |
