Smuin Ballet premieres Helen Pickett’s Oasis, with an original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (Netflix’s House of Cards). Pickett’s work has been called “Spellbinding” (SF Chronicle), “A visually silken and color-drenched dance” (Contra Costa Times).

The program also includes: Jiří Kylián’s masterpiece Return to a Strange Land, called “Moving. Impressive” (SF Chronicle), and “A must-see!” (SF Classical Voice); and Val Caniparoli’s delightful Tutto Eccetto il Lavandino (everything but the kitchen sink).

This dynamic choreography moves from classical to contemporary to theatricality in inventive movements that illuminate the Vivaldi score in new and surprising ways. "Droll. Delightful!" (SF Chronicle)
