EU - Kazakhstan relations - What are the drivers for increased economic cooperation?

Wednesday, 5 June 2024 | 15:00 - 16:15 CET

In recent years, the relationship between the EU and Kazakhstan has evolved significantly, marked by a growing emphasis on economic cooperation, political dialogue, and partnerships in various fields.

With trade and investment playing a central role, economic cooperation has been a cornerstone of EU-Kazakhstan relations. Kazakhstan's natural resources, particularly oil, gas, and minerals, have attracted European companies seeking access to energy markets and investment opportunities. The EU has also been an important market for Kazakh exports, including oil, metals, and agricultural products.

Join this Euractiv Hybrid Conference to discuss EU-Kazakh relations and the drivers for increased economic cooperation.

Panellists:
  • Roman Vassilenko, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • Samuel Doveri Vesterbye, Managing Director, European Neighbourhood Council (ENC)
  • Zhanibek Arynov, Assistant Professor, Nazarbayev University
  • Maryam Agharabi, Research Coordinator at China & Central Asia Studies Center (CCASC), KIMEP University
