The Lunch Line: Say it ain't so, Michael Thomas. And COVID vax for the kiddos

By Bob Warren

Walking wounded: First Wil Lutz. Then Jameis Winston. Now . . . Michael Thomas? Say it ain’t so. Thomas, we learned this morning, has suffered the dreaded “setback” in his recovery from offseason ankle surgery. Done for the season, Amie Just reports. Arrghhhh!

Kid vax: Some big news on the COVID front today. The state Department of Health has opened the gates for kids ages 5-11 to get the vaccine. Emily Woodruff has what you need to know about it.

Crucial survey: The crowds that watched the Krewe of BOO! parade on Oct. 23 weren’t just attending a parade. Some were also participating in a health survey that could have some bearing on whether we can have parades in New Orleans next Carnival, Doug MacCash reports.

'You're free to go': Troy Rhodes walked out of a New Orleans courtroom Tuesday with something he had sought for years – proof that the state won’t re-try him on the charges that had kept him in prison for the better part of two decades. Matt Sledge was there as the scene unfolded.

Toon newsletter: One more thing. Are you a fan of cartoonist Walt Handelsman? He's got a newsletter now - cartoons, sketches, behind-the-scenes stuff. Sign up is easy-peasy, just click this link.

Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today.
