SBA assists Upstate businesses impacted by storms

Businesses in Spartanburg, Greenville, Laurens and Union counties can now apply for Small Business Administration disaster assistance if affected by February's front of storms and tornadoes. 

Business fraud attempts rising amid COVID-19 pandemic

Utility companies are reporting an increased number of attempts to scam businesses using the coronavirus outbreak as a pretext for collecting money that’s not owed by customers. A Dominion Energy spokesman said businesses should always be wary when someone demands immediate payment to avoid a disconnect.

Construction presses on amid new coronavirus crisis

An April 3 survey found that 27% of responding construction companies had laid off workers, and 55% reported halting or canceling current jobs. Local companies are still working, though changes have been made.

Atlatl names Scott new CEO

Visual configuration software company Atlatl Software has named Chief Growth Officer Justin Scott as its new CEO, replacing Marc Murphy. Prior to joining Atlatl, Scott was senior vice president of revenue for FiscalNote; before that, he was vice president of brand strategy at Tumblr.

SCRA awards first private-school grant to Furman startup

Furman senior Trent Stubbs and chemistry professor Greg Springsteen were awarded the first S.C. Research Authority grant offered to a private school for the start-up of Aconabolics LLC. The duo founded Aconabolics two years ago.
