Parish asks court to release him because of COVID-19

Convicted Ponzi scheme mastermind Al Parish, who swindled about $66 million from hundreds of people, is asking the court to release him from prison in light of the coronavirus pandemic. In a handwritten motion, Parish said COVID-19 “imminently threatens” his life because of his underlying medical conditions.

BASF donates $50,000 toward Seneca tornado relief

Chemical manufacturer BASF Corp. has gifted $50,000 to the city of Seneca Relief Fund following the touchdown of an EF-3 tornado in the city on April 13. The donation, housed at Oconee Federal Bank, will be used to support victims of damage left behind when at least one of several tornadoes across the Upstate touched down in Oconee County.
