Unemployment claims keep rising in S.C.

For the week ending March 28, state unemployment claims rose to 64,865, and increase of approximately 109% from the previous week and a 3,149% increase from the week ending March 14.

Businesses needing status clarification in light of an executive order shuttering all nonessential services must complete a form available on the department’s website. The site also has a list of specified nonessential businesses.

The University of South Carolina said it will begin processing prorated refunds for meal plans, parking permits and on-campus residential housing immediately. The refunds will include fees for services not received on or after March 16.
