Greenville urges statewide stay-at-home order

Greenville City Council passed an ordinance Friday urging for a statewide stay-at-home order and enforcing businesses to enact social distancing measures effective 10 a.m. Saturday or risk up to an $100 fine.

Aiken launches $1 million small-business loan program

The city of Aiken has created a $1 million loan program to tide over small businesses until federal aid reaches them. The loan program, approved as an emergency ordinance by the Aiken City Council on March 23, will offer up to $10,000 for qualifying businesses.

FTA allocates $16.9 million to Lowcountry public transit

The Federal Transit Administration has allocated $16.9 million to the Charleston metro region to help the area’s public transportation system respond to COVID-19. The funds will be used to cover operational costs, operational losses and the purchase of additional cleaning supplies and cleaning services.

State extends license renewal deadlines

Deadlines for state licenses, registrations and permits scheduled to renew from April through August have been extended until Sept. 30. Continuing education requirements may also be obtained throughout the extended period.
