Unemployment claims drop again as state awaits guidance

Initial unemployment claims dropped below 6,000 as state officials cautioned additional federal benefits will likely not be available for several weeks. Richland County saw a state-high 583 claims filed for the week ending Aug. 8. 

Cherokee County begins 17-year planning process

Cherokee County leaders have taken the first step in creating a vision aimed at carrying the county to its 140th anniversary and beyond. The initial leadership team met this week to identify the broad sectors that will be the focus of Cherokee County 2037: A Clear Vision.

DuBois named director of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center

ReWa and Clemson launch program to predict COVID-19 surge

Renewable Water Resources and Clemson University began tracking and analyzing COVID-19 levels in early June. Samples have consistently shown "significant" and "major" infection levels of the virus in Greenville County.
