Insurer offers new short-term plan for S.C. residents over 50

South Carolina is among the first of 17 states to have access to a new short-term care insurance options. The new AARP Short-Term Care Insurance from Medico complements other insurances, covers fives types of extended care, and includes well-care coordination and household assistance. 

Scientex Packaging Film investing $43M in Lancaster County

The $43 million manufacturing facility is being built on Grace Avenue in Lancaster. It is expected to create 69 jobs, and operations are slated to begin by January 2021. The Malaysia-based company also has a U.S. facility in Phoenix.

Prodigy Cabinetry establishing operations in Greenville

Prodigy Cabinetry, a manufacturer of European-styled cabinetry, is investing $2.5 million and hiring 80 people to start new operations in Greenville. Prodigy Cabinetry uses online tools to provide service to cabinetry retailers that design kitchens and bathrooms.

Gig-based moving business to launch service in Charleston

Online moving service Bellhops is launching in Charleston, with moves expected to start Feb. 19. Bellhops allows users to create a moving plan for an office, residence or storage unit and be matched with movers and drivers in the area.

Cubico acquires 102-megawatt Midlands solar project

The Calhoun County project is the London-based renewable energy company’s third in the state. The project, which has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Dominion Energy, brings Cubico’s S.C. solar capacity to more than 300 MW.
