Cargo volume increasing steadily at S.C. Ports

Cargo diversity and essential workers, among other key factors, have contributed to strong port volumes heading into 2021. As a result of consecutive record months, the SCPA updated its fiscal year forecast to project handling a record 1.385 million pier container units. Last month, SCPA also moved 1,236 pier containers, a 2% year-over-year increase.

Specialty crop program accepting applications

The S.C. program, part of the USDA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant initiative, aims to enhance the market for specialty crops. Eligible projects should provide improved food safety or crop sustainability, among other benefits.

Greer mask producer sees glut in market

When the country scrambled for face coverings, Advanced Testing Instruments Corp. formed subsidiary Carolina Facemask and PPE to meet the call at its Greer base. Now that masks have become a sight more familiar than the face au natural, the company said warehouses sit full of millions of unused masks.
