VentureSouth portfolio company Proterra will become a publicly traded company through the acquisition of ArcLight Clean Transition Corp. Greenville serves as an East Coast office and manufacturing hub for the electric vehicle company.

As broadband investment projects unfurl across the state, Greenville-based Broadband Infrastructure Inc. received $7.5 million in capital from a recent funding deal with Emigrant Business Credit.

The grants are part of the department’s Relentless Challenge program, which supports technological innovation in local initiatives statewide. Since 2013, the program has awarded more than $7 million to 41 organizations.  

Walmart closing Midlands’ Bush River Road location

The store is closing because of underperforming sales, according to the company. The location will shutter its doors Feb. 5, while the pharmacy will close Jan. 22. Walmart said associates will have the option to transfer to another location.

The S.C. Restaurant and Lodging Association on Tuesday announced its statewide finalists for the 68th annual S.C. Hospitality Industry Awards. Winners will be presented their awards on Feb. 1 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Columbia.

Southwest resumes daily flights from CHS to Denver

After a decision to pause the route because of travel concerns, the Dallas-based airline will begin daily connections from Charleston to Denver starting March 11. The daily service provides another nonstop connection between Charleston and Denver as United Airlines too resumed its direct route three months ago. The airline similarly paused it during the pandemic.
