Greenville tourism grant application window opens

The city of Greenville has opened the application window for tourism fund grants until Feb. 12 to invest in tourism capital projects, marketing campaigns or events with the ability to increase leisure travel to the city.

Sony makes $1.7M product donation to Lowcountry museum

Sony’s donation through its Global Social Justice Fund is part of a larger commitment to advocate for social justice and diversity. The $1.7 million in products will be used in the Atlantic Worlds Gallery and other environments around the museum.

S.C. ports record best December in history

The S.C. Ports Authority topped a record November with a record December, continuing its upward trend of steady growth. Vehicles saw the largest increase on the waterfront with a 29.2% jump.

South Carolina Chef Ambassadors to serve second year

The four chefs selected to represent the state in 2020 will serve a second year in those roles. The Chef Ambassador program was established in 2014 to promote the state as a culinary destination and highlight locally grown produce.

Initial unemployment claims top 8,600 for week

South Carolina saw 8,635 initial claims filed for the week ending Jan. 9 as the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce began paying a second extended federal benefit. Greenville County had a state-high 842 claims. 

Tri-County grants CARES Act aid to students in need

As part of the Tri-County Technical College’s 2021 Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act funding, the school will award almost $3 million to students in need over the next few weeks.
