S.C. union membership rate remains lowest in U.S.

South Carolina had approximately 47,000 union members in 2019, 2.2% of the people employed in the state, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is half a percentage point lower than in 2018, despite an increase in employment in the Palmetto State.

Judson Mill targeted as next mill for redevelopment

Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC has closed a $31 million construction loan for Judson Mill. The funding is for the first phase, which is the residential portion of the mixed-use development.

New app will designate venues, users as ‘Soda City Certified’

The app, created by Khali Gallman, will highlight area venues and businesses and award points to users. For an annual fee, the app will feature participants in 3 categories: events, deals and who’s who. 

North Charleston to consider senior living project

Pearce Development wants to revitalize plans for a new senior independent and assisted living project on Dorchester Road. The project was initially approved by the North Charleston City Council in 2009, and new plans are up for final reading tonight.

County Square plan takes big step forward
