Construction industry struggling to find workers

The shrinking labor pool has frustrated hiring managers across economic sectors, but the hard-hit construction industry is being hammered by a number of factors that keep the worker supply low. An initiative is underway now to bolster the pipeline by reaching out to young people before they settle on another profession.

Boeing plans another 787 rate cut, dropping to 10 next year

For the second quarter in a row, Boeing Co. announced plans to cut the production rate of 787 airplanes. The company said it would cut production early next year and plans to return to 12 per month in 2023. Company leadership attributed the cut to global trade challenges and a lack of orders from Chinese customers.

Clemson’s first downtown hotel coming to life

A boutique hotel is rising from the ground in a tight spot on Clemson’s College Avenue. Mashburn Construction is working on the 67-room Shepherd Hotel on a small lot downtown after breaking ground on the project in November.
