City of Columbia to consider requiring masks be worn

The city will consider an emergency ordinance during its Tuesday meeting to require masks or face coverings be worn in public inside city limits. The public can provide feedback during the meeting.

S.C. unemployment claims top 600,000

Since March 15, 601,631 people have filed initial unemployment claims in the state. The week ending June 13 saw a decrease of 3,368 claims from the previous week, with 1,855 claims filed in Richland County.

City moves to relocate Calhoun statue from Marion Square

Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg said at a news conference Wednesday that he will propose a resolution to move the statue to a local museum or academic institution. City Council will discuss it at its meeting Tuesday.

I-77 interchange to get $34.6M federal infusion

DHEC now reporting probable COVID-19 cases

S.C. is the 23rd state to follow CDC recommendations to provide probable case and death numbers. No probable deaths have been reported as of June 14. Three of 5 probable cases are in Richland County.
