Theaters to remain closed, elective surgery limits considered

As COVID-19 cases soared last week, Gov. Henry McMaster said certain businesses will remain closed but said a statewide mandate requiring facial coverings would be “ineffective” and “impractical."

North Charleston to distribute 15,000 masks

Mayor Keith Summey said wearing masks could save lives and help get children safely back to school in the fall. The city’s police and fire departments are working to distribute thousands of masks at sites across the city.

Central Electric Power Co-op to extend line with $70M loan

The funds are part of the USDA’s $1.6 billion investment in 21 states, including South Carolina, through its Electric Loan Program. The program will improve 9,138 miles of electric transmission and distribution line.

USC, COMET team up for new shuttle service

A new $1.5 million annual contract will provide 12 buses for the Carolina Shuttle fleet, which will be free for USC students and faculty and available to the public at the same fare as current COMET services.
