Residential real estate volume down 10% in April; prices up

Residential real estate sales volume in the Lowcountry were down approximately 10% year over year last month, according to preliminary data released by the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors. Last month, 1,441 homes were sold, at a median price of $290,000; year to date, 5,593 homes have been sold, at a median price of $289,900.

Spire Holdings buys majority stake in Swamp Rabbits

The ECHL Board of Governors voted unanimously May 14 to accept the purchase of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits by Spire Hockey South, a subsidiary of Spire Hockey owned by Jeff Dickerson, T.J. Puchyr, Tom Long and Chip Ganassi.

Penny Tax program update available Thursday

A virtual town hall will provide Richland County residents a chance to receive updates on and ask questions about the county’s Transportation Penny Program. The town hall will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

CSU plans to resume in-person classes for fall semester

Charleston Southern University plans to resume in-person instruction for the fall semester with safety protocols implemented. The university has established a task force to develop its reopening plans, which will be aligned with Gov. Henry McMaster’s AccelerateSC task force and the Lowcountry’s One Region Reignite plan.

After four weeks of preparation, Milliken & Co. has begun to mass produce Sporicidin disinfectant for Spartanburg-based cleaning supplies manufacturer Contec Inc.
