Boeing to begin involuntary layoffs

Boeing is beginning involuntary layoffs this week as part of the workforce reduction that the company announced last month. The first involuntary layoff notifications will be delivered this week to approximately 6,770 U.S. employees, including an undisclosed number in South Carolina.

DHEC exceeds goal of testing 2% of population for COVID-19

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has exceeded its goal of testing 2% of the state’s population, or 110,000 people, for COVID-19 by the end of May. DHEC announced Tuesday that 110,316 tests have been performed in South Carolina since May 1.

Duke grant expands tech school line worker programs

S.C. Technical College’s Lineworker Grant Program awarded grants in 2018 to Horry-Georgetown Technical College, Tri-County Technical College and York Technical College to expand or create programs, with additional funding in 2020.
