Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation provides 13 weeks additional benefits to eligible individuals who have exhausted their 20-week period. For the week ending May 23, 24,950 initial unemployment claims were filed in S.C.

The S.C Chamber PAC has inaugurated a new S.C. Election Center website platform and announced support for 17 candidates in the upcoming primaries. Candidates with a score of 80% or above on the S.C. Chamber Legislative Scorecard have been considered.

WestEdge incubator opens, to focus on life sciences

The Charleston Digital Corridor has opened a new incubator that focuses primarily on life sciences and technology companies in the mixed-use WestEdge development located in the medical district near the Ashley River.

COVID-19 testing available at 15 S.C. CVS locations

The pharmacies, including 3 in the Midlands, will begin offering drive-thru, self-administered swab tests on Friday. Appointments for the free tests must be scheduled in advance online.

Inman wastewater plant expands with USDA grant

The city of Inman will accept a $10.8 million loan and $2 million grant for wastewater plant expansion as the U.S. Department of Agriculture invests $281 million in water and wastewater infrastructure across the country. Inman is one of 106 recipients across 36 states and Puerto Rico.
