S.C. collects nearly $64M in sales tax from online retailers

Since Nov. 1, 2018, the S.C. Department of Revenue has collected nearly $64 million in state sales taxes from out-of-state retailers who sell their products to state residents. The money will be distributed among state programs.

Gotcha acquired by West Coast scooter company for $12M

Gotcha Mobility LLC, the Charleston-based company operating dozens of bike and scooter programs across the country, has been acquired by Ojo Electric Corp. of Oxnard, Calif., for $12 million. The merger is expected to close by the end of the year. Ojo Electric is approximately 2 years old and went public on the TSX Venture Exchange in July.

Collaboration to power new solar farm in Orangeburg County

Google, Central Electric Power Cooperative and Berkeley Electric Cooperative are building a 75-megawatt solar farm which is expected to generate 180,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy each year.

Bon Secours opening new urgent care center

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System is expanding its AFC Urgent Care Bon Secours sites to include a new 3,000-square-foot location at 2709 Pelham Road. It opens on Friday. The center joins six existing Greenville County centers and will care for patients from age 2 and up.
