Salute to Manufacturing Awards honors companies

The Salute to Manufacturing awards closed out the S.C. Manufacturing Conference & Expo held last week at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston. The award winners were announced during a special luncheon Wednesday.

Charleston-based software company Engage Talent acquired

Engage Talent, a predictive analytics and artificial intelligence software company based in Charleston, has been acquired by Workforce Logiq, a global provider of workforce management software and services. Engage Talent was a portfolio company of Charleston Angel Partners, an angel group that invests in early stage businesses.

Adidas opens store in Upstate for employees and (sometimes) others

For about 2,000 employees of Adidas and Reebok, one of the company perks just got a little better. Adidas, which owns Reebok, opened a store this month that is almost exclusively for employees of the company’s 2.4 million-square-foot distribution center in Spartanburg and its area retail stores.

Liberty Trail to link Revolutionary War sites

The Liberty Trail will span 400 miles from the S.C. coast to the mountains and include 16 park sites and 14 roadside pull-offs. Its goal is to promote the state’s role in helping win the war as well as to drive tourism. Camden battlefield sites will be featured.

Greenville schedules meeting for trail extension plan

The city is hosting a kickoff meeting to discuss the Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension Master Plan at 5:30 p.m. today at the University Center Greenville auditorium. The city has hired Stantec’s Urban Places to develop a master plan for the area located along the planned 4.5-mile extension of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. 

Greenville focusing on making downtown living affordable

The city’s master plan for downtown is focused on key initiatives to advance the economic and physical success of the district in the next five to 10 years. The plan calls for a focus on public and private investment “that will attract a talented workforce to downtown.”

Grant funding available for diesel engine emission reductions

The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act grants are intended to help reduce diesel emissions by paying for upgrades or replacement of older diesel engines. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Dec. 13 for primary consideration.
