Duke Energy helps fund EV charging infrastructure

Two of Duke Energy’s electric transportation infrastructure pilot programs were recently greenlighted by the state’s public service commission. The programs, originally proposed in 2018, were created to bolster electric vehicle infrastructure across Duke’s service area over three years.

950 homes planned for Charleston Watson Hill tract

After more than a decade of turmoil surrounding the Watson Hill tract, national homebuilder Ashton Woods has purchased 500 acres with plans to build 950 single-family homes off Ashley River Road. 

S.C. to receive $31.5M grant for charter schools

The funding from the U.S. Department of Education’s Charter School Programs will be used to expand the state’s 90 existing charter schools and to open 32 new schools during the next five years. 

Columbia company wins national award for innovation

The face shield, produced by Columbia-based digital manufacturing company ZVerse, was named a winner of the annual Innovation by Design Awards by business magazine Fast Company.

Teacher-led tutoring program expanding to S.C.

Maryland Teacher Tutors, founded in 2015, employs more than 150 current and former certified teacher tutors in the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. Its S.C. branch will be led by educator Molly Broom.
